Vinyl + Laminate

Easy Installation

If you need a foam underlayment for laminate or decide to install vinyl sheeting, you may need the help of professionals to complete the installation. However, both laminate and vinyl come in planks that lock together as a floating floor or almost any type of subfloor, giving you the option for an easy DIY installation with either flooring type.

Cost Effectiveness

Both vinyl and laminate are more cost effective than traditional hardwood. They also have an easier installation which cuts down on costs.

Low Maintenance

Vinyl and laminate are both easy to keep clean. Harsh cleansers aren’t needed to clean vinyl planks.  A traditional mop and/or a dust mop can be used to effectively clean vinyl flooring. For daily cleaning, a broom, dust mop, or vacuum cleaner designed for use on laminate floors can tackle everyday messes. You should always wipe up any water or other spills immediately.

Durable

Homeowners often turn to vinyl-plank or laminate flooring to get the look of hardwoods without the risk of scratches, dings, and other flaws that can be time-consuming (and expensive) to repair. One of the primary benefits touted by both vinyl plank and laminate flooring is durability.

Overview

VINYL
Vinyl flooring is durable, waterproof flooring that has the look of hardwood or stone without the hefty price tag. It is designed to resemble hardwood, and it comes in strips. You can find this product in a number of styles, each mimicking a specific type of wood, from oak to hickory and beyond. Because vinyl plank imitates hardwood, you’re sure to find a version that matches the rest of your home’s decor. Vinyl has a very similar look to hardwood but has a softer feel to it which makes it less likely for objects that fall on it to break e.g. glass plates and cups. Like laminate floors, it can be installed directly on concrete and also can last for as long as 20 years without daily cleaning or maintenance.

LAMINATE
Laminate flooring is the closest alternative to an original hardwood floor, and as such it has taken the carpet industry by storm. It is a synthetic floor material that simulates wood with a picture laminated over particle board. Laminate floors are often installed using a floating floor technique that requires no adhesive. Its durability is unmatched when compared with carpeting and often even with wood floors. It has become the most popular alternative to purchasing solid hardwood flooring as it resists staining, wear and tear, and fading much better than wood while providing the same unique look and appeal. Laminate floors are considered to be very low-maintenance when compared to other flooring types such as Solid Hardwood or Bamboo Floors. It is the most cost-effective way to purchase hardwood flooring because it uses less wood than other types of hardwood flooring.
